Decomposition - A Compound breaks up into single elements or simpler compounds (AB --> A+B)
Precipitation - Occurs when cations and anions in aqueous solutions combine to form an insoluble ionic solid called a precipitate. (Must use solubility rules to determine if it will occur or not)
Synthesis - When two substances combine to form a compound (A+B --> AB)
Double Replacement - Where a metal can replace a metal in a compound and a nonmetal an replace a non metal. Usually found when compounds of two or more elements combine. (AB+ CD --> AD + CB)
Combustion - Can be identified when a hydrocarbon reacts with oxygen. Products are always Carbon dioxide and Water.
Single Replacement - One element replaces another in a compound. Cations go first/ Metals and non-metals can only switch with themselves. (A +BC --> AC+B)
Oxidation Reduction - Any chemical reaction in which the oxidation number of a molecule, atom, or ion changes by gaining or losing an electron.
Acid- Base Neutralization - A form of double replacement where a acid (starts with Hydrogen) and a base (ends in OH) combine to form a sort of salt and water
